Asset Security Update - Enhanced Protection and Enforcement Actions
Enhanced Security Measures Implemented
FiveM has implemented an additional layer of obfuscation measures to address the identified security vulnerability in the asset escrow system. The latest exploit method detected should no longer function on GTAV Legacy assets.
Over the past weeks, these measures have been tested with members of the community to ensure proper functionality with minimal performance impact.
Asset Re-encryption Process
Creators can re-encrypt previously uploaded FiveM assets through the Portal using the following steps:
- Navigate to the 'Created Assets' tab on Portal
- Click the 'Re-Encrypt' button to the right of your asset status
- Your previously uploaded asset will be automatically encrypted
Note: Any newly uploaded assets will automatically use the new encryption format. The above process is only required for previously uploaded assets.
Enforcement Actions Taken
Since identifying the exploit, FiveM has suspended hundreds of accounts and servers associated with stolen assets. Those confirmed to be in violation after outreach and review have received permanent bans.
Asset Escrow Limitations
No encryption method can be rendered completely impenetrable. The goal of Asset Escrow is to make unauthorized access as difficult as possible while providing mechanisms to actively monitor for resource misuse.
Authorized Asset Distribution
As a reminder, only Tebex-accredited creators are authorized resellers of FiveM and RedM assets. Users should verify that creators are Tebex-accredited before making any purchases.
Ongoing Protection and Monitoring
By leveraging available tools, FiveM will continue to identify and take action against servers using illicitly-obtained assets, providing creators with additional layers of protection against bad actors.
Report Stolen Assets
If you suspect any servers of using stolen assets, you can submit a report using the Server Report form: Report Form
